Front row experience!!
« on: October 13, 2008, 07:27:34 PM »
I know everyone has not been at the front row in a concert in there lives before, but if you have what was your experience like!!!

My front row experience was back in 27th march of this year at brighton. when i went to see velvet revolver!!
(also my first gig). when the two support acts had finished the band didnt get on stage like an hour or so later,by then you could feel the tension build up,people getting pissed off and some getting kicked out!!  when the band got on stage i could see slash looking at me due to the camra flahes.i couldnt believe my on eyes... anyway, when 'let it roll' started playing the lights went on and all hell broke lose!.
Slash dancing around was great to watch, duff also looked at me and gave me the middle finger at
'its so easy' :finger:. when the band finished 'slither' slash came up to where i was (i was still at the front row) and threw his guitar pick on my shoulder, but someone else got there before i could pick it off from the floor!!

I was at the front when slashs snakepit played the corporation club in sheffield, its a very small venue so it was really hot in there and we were crushed when the band came on, a couple of people passed out and slash was sick but carried on playing, they played mr brownstone and its so easy, the lead singer did an axl impression and some idiot threw a plastic cup at him so he threatened to walk off. was the best gig ive ever seen and we still joke how we should have got a piece of carrot off the stage and framed it.

i have had many front row experiences but my favourite one would be when Guns N Roses played in Melbourne, Australia 16th June 2007.  id been to the concert the night before also in the front row and had spent over two days somewhere close to 5 hours waiting in line in the cold just to get in.  for those who dont know the support acts for the tour were rose tattoo and sebastian bach.  many people on staff and crew noticed me from the night beforee and could see i was a keen fan so they were all really nice... even johnny chromatic and metal mike remembered who i was right at the start and that was thrilling.  the best didnt come until later though when i was thrashing around loving the bach setlist at the end baz walked up to where i was and reached out to give me a high five... it was the single best concert moment ever.   also when bumblefoot played with GNR i got a few laughs out of him by pointing and doing weird shit while he was looking my way.   i also got to have a strum of his guitar as he went running up and down the baracade at the front of the stage... it was pretty awesome and i dont think that anything short of meeting axl or baz in person could top that experience.    over two days it was the best 10 hours and $300 i ever spent

Megadeth, 23nd Feb, this year:

Screamed "I love you Dave!!" in the heat of the moment :shy: He nodded back at m with a kinda blank expression on his face...fair enough, really. Got a slient "Yeeeahhh!!"" off James 'J-Lo' LoMenzo, Deth's bassist.

Also got to the barrier for Scars On Broadway, about 5 weeks ago. The gig got relegated to the Academy 2...I couldn't believe how small it was! Bloody great. Caught a pick off their bassist and shook John's hand as the band filed off the stage, past the bar. :D

The "good Ol' Days" were great. We used to get floor seats as close to the stage as possible for whatever show. Lights would go down. Everyone would just start going over the seats to get as close to the stage as possible. There was always a mutual "see you in the lot after the show if we get separated", understanding.
Twas a shitload of fun!

$300? Mother of God, that's expensive. I've never seen them, is that normal for their ticket prices? Please say no.

Saw VR in front row back in 2004, my bud got Slash's guitar pick and I got sweated on by Scott as he climbed into the crowd. Not that cool actually. Then had first row for John Fogerty in 2007 which was very cool. Both were small venues so the feeling was great.
GNR: 5 times, VR: 4 times, Slash solo: 2 times, all the other bands I've seen don't matter.

Metallica's tickets are upwards of $85 with ticketmaster fees this time around.  Wouldn't be surprised if Guns tix went for that, and for two people with food, beer, merchandise, and travel costs $300 rapidly becomes your minimum.  Last time I was front row was for Met, New Orleans 2004.  Got a couple of looks from the band, grabbed 2 guitar pics and a drumstick, fucking awesome show.  Only thing was the security was a little tight, to the point where guards would stand up on the railing and block our view at times.

I was 12 when the UYI tour ended.  Had tix for new Guns shows both times but each were cancelled, fucking rotten luck.  This time though...
Keep you up and sitting prett-ay...

shit, I remember paying $7.50 for Jethro Tull and something like $5 for Mott the Hopple. Of course, we sat on the floor (there were no seats) but we did lots of drugs and had a great time. Actually, we were elevated off the floor a few inches, if you know what I mean.  ;)

I've been at the front 3 times.

Metallica - June 2003 at Washington Redskins stadium (not RFK but the new one, Fed Express, I think it's called)
GNR - July 2006, Newcastle, England
Velvet Revolver - June 2007, Glasgow SECC

All I can say is, if you ain't at the front you're nowhere. It's a fight just to stay there.............. ................... .......
but so worth it!!!
