Im a big Primus fan for along time,I knew of Brain or Bryan Mantia well before GNR not that that makes me a cool guy or anything but I do know he is a PHENOMANAL drummer and any track he plays on is made all that much better for it.
Im not gonna say hes the best drummer ever or anything,but he is really,really entertaining and a gentleman.

Did Frank not come into the band because Brain got hurt or ill and couldn't tour for awhile? Could be wrong there but I think I remember something like that awhile back.

The leaks are Brain,some joker suggested its Brain playing Josh Freeses parts but I find that quite amusing.
Frank is good and all but Brain is a fantastic drummer and do you really believe he left because he had a kid?
(that must be why hes continued recording and playing live with Buckethead since resting from Gnr?)

Have to agree with this. When I heard from Bill Laswell in ’04, that Buckethead wouldn’t be going back to GNR. I thought it was unthinkable for Brain to remain a member of the band for much longer. Both Buckethead leaving for sure as well as Brain’s probable departure in progress, were concepts almost the whole GNR community didn’t think much of. I was very surprised by this, because both concepts were strongly supported by reality. The reality is/was that Laswell is a very credible and respected man (who probably won’t BS you). And much (not all) of the attraction of playing in GNR, for Brain and Buckethead, was to give their strong friendship yet another (common) professional dimension. I could be wrong, but really don’t expect Brain back anytime soon. To me he’s indeed eons ahead of Frank.

Brain's sloppy as fuck, but i love him.  he's got real personality in his drumming, even if the RAR '06 vids on youtube barely hold together at all.  better him than Ferrer i think.  Freese is still God though of course.
