Evra and Suarez...frankly you could hold a gun at the both of them then flip a coin to determine which one would get shot and i really don't think i'd have a preferred outcome...except maybe the coin landing in a standing position.

Rangers are to go into administration after lodging the notice in Edinburgh at Monday lunchtime.

It is understood Gers have five days in which to formally declare administrators have taken over the running of the club.

The Scottish Premier League champions are facing an uncertain future as they await the verdict of a tax tribunal.

The famous Ibrox club could face a bill in the region of £49million should they lose their dispute with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

The club's financial problems are well documented following the decision to sell star striker Nikica Jelavic to Everton in January.

Gers have now shown their hand after lodging an intention to go into administration with the Court of Session.

A Scottish Premier League spokesman confirmed a 10-point deduction and a transfer embargo would only be put in place when administration was confirmed.

The spokesman said: "At this point in time Rangers are not in administration and we await developments.

"The instant that they are technically in administration there will be an automatic 10-point deduction and, perhaps of less relevance, an embargo on player registrations.

"If administration is confirmed, as we have done previously, we would be looking to work with the administrators and would be looking for a very early meeting."

how insanely worthless is the SPL that a team can go into administration and remain COMFORTABLY in second place

Would it be any different in Spain if Barca were docked 10 points? Would you say La Liga was worthless? I realise SPL football is schoolboy football outside of the Old Firm, and not that much better inside it, but I still don't think the SPL is worthless. There is a certain charm about a league where the highest valued players are bought and sold for a number of millions you can count on one hand :shy:

This is the hardest time I have ever had as a Rangers fan, but thick and thin i will stand by them. Though the streets be broad and narrow, follow we will!

This basically means that the name Rangers FC is dead....right?

They will have to back as some other name, like Rangers.....FC, probably a sponsors name.

Actually yes, Barcelona would be in 3rd. But yes for the most part La Liga has some really worthwhile teams: A Madrid, R Madrid, Villarreal, Sevilla, Valencia....all strong teams who do fairly well in Europe usually. Scotland has two teams who take it in turns to win and several who are irrelevant in domestic and continental football, that's just how it is.

and i can say fair play to that part about smaller values but you can get that in the championship and honestly that's a lot more competitive. Scottish league just makes no sense to me dude, they should assimilate into the EPL like Wales did at least it'd be somewhat more fair on the smaller teams. I dunno maybe you need to live in Scotland to "get" it.

Yes, I think that is a fair point - it's a uniquely Scottish thing. The Scots seem to revell in being crap, and as much as that may sound weird, its completely true. Don't get me wrong, I am an Englishman, and love the EPL and support Liverpool; but I have lived in Scotland for almost half of my life, so am uniquely positioned to get the best of both worlds :shy:

Barca would be 3rd if they were docked 10 points, but i do see your point. Equally i'd say there are 4 teams from Spain that as a rule are strong forces in Europe and are written off far too easily (Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, Villarreal). Don't think the same can be said of any of the Scottish clubs though.

But fair play we all have our opinions.

I don't think it's worthless at all there've been numerous players (not even the best in SPL terms) who've made the switch south and had considerable success i.e. Fletcher of Wolves, Charlie Adam, Barry Robson, Stilian Petrov

Robbie Keane was a relative flop in Scotland and hit what two or three upon his brief return from the US to the EPL? Even Roy, perhaps the best example of a midfield General and still in some form, was an insignificance at Celtic.

It's two different breeds of football; SPL players can fail down south ala Daniel Cousins, Shaun Maloney and vice versa Juninho, Aliadierre, Henri Camara

Aiden McGeady is at the minute one of the most formidable assets in Russian football. Beram Kayal, Emilio Izzaguire, Gary Hooper, Steve Davis and Bougherra would all make it in the EPL, have you even seen these players play are or you drawing your conclusions on the word of others?

And of course also both Celtic and Rangers have been in the last 16 and QFs of Champions League football, have City, with their millions?

I don't think Chez was getting at the Old Firm; more the lack of any quality apart from the Old Firm. Which is true, but then there are people who maintain that a team isn't a team until it has played on a wet Wednesday night at Stoke. And that's all you ever get in the SPL
