In my opinion Line 6 amps are only good as practice amps. They have lots of sounds, but sounds that are only really that good at lower volumes. If you want to have some quality sound, buy a tube amp.

On a side note, if anyone was thinking about getting the Line 6 Spider Valve stack:

I bought a line 6 spider valve stack a few weeks ago to try it out but I was soon disappointed. Although the amp claims to be all tube, it really isn't, the second it goes through the modelling board and effects its no longer 100% tube. To me, there is no comparison, line 6 doesn't come close to real tube. I played on an old peavey head at guitar center the day after i returned the spider valve and I couldn't believe what a difference in tone there was. Line 6 just doesn't have the warmth and richness, no matter how hard it tries.

i bought 1 recently its great
i need to buy a pedal to switch cleanly from distortion to clean but other than that its great
and it has so many great presets like a few of bumblefoot's presets and the sweet child o' mine preset
so i'm pretty happy

These are very good amps... and I like Li** 6 products in general!
That said... solid state amps can be very good, try to be open mindedin this!
Of course... you can find much more cra**y solid state amps around than cra**y valve ones but the reason is very simple: anyone who wants to buid cheap amps uses solid state technology cause it costs less and doesn't loose money and time with valves.
This doesn't mean that all "solitstaters" are cheap and low quality! There are very good solid state Fen*** and Pea**y amps.
You just cannot crank them up to the top and expect them to be like valve ones but they pull out a hell of a good sound as well!

I've not had much experience with Line 6 amps, but I did use one once while practicing with a band. I was pretty impresed with it. I think they have more value as a heavy metal amp than the blues based stuff I play, but the overdrive on it blew me away. More "crushing" than the Zakk Wylde endorsed lower end Marshalls, anyway
