So, now Toyota backs out after all. Damn manufacturers cannot provide any continuity in F1. This clears the way for the Sauber-Qadbak team (the former BMW team).

Privateers have the future. Fuck Ford, Honda, BMW and Toyota. First they want to claim all the power and they kinda put the privateers out of the game and when things go bad, headquarters pulls the plug.

You cant trust manufactures to ever stay. The newest rumour is Reanult pulling out, they held an EGM on Weds and there decision is not yet known. Very strange if this happens seeing as they just signed Kubica.

That would be a disaster. Poor Kubica in that case, having two teams in a row who back out.

Bring back Tyrrell, Jordan, Benetton, Arrows & Minardi!

Indeed. But Sauber was never completely away, being still partner at BMW-Sauber before BMW pulled back

Mercedes-Benz have bought the Brawn GP Formula One team in a move that could see Jenson Button join Lewis Hamilton at McLaren next season.

According to reports in Germany, Mercedes has bought a 75 per cent stake in Brawn, which will be rebranded as the Mercedes GP team from next season.

Despite having won the world championship last month, Button's future remains uncertain. He has been unable to negotiate a substantial pay rise from Brawn and believes he is being pushed towards a deal with McLaren to drive alongside Hamilton.

Mercedes said McLaren had bought back the German company’s stake in the Woking-based team but added the two would still co-operate over engines for the 2010 season.Even though that would form a “dream team” of successive English world champions, Button has been hurt by the failure of Brawn to come up with a deal he believes would confirm his new status.

The Somerset-born driver, 29, took a £5 million pay cut to £3 million last season, but expected recognition of his loyalty after winning the championship. He has been offered a £4 million a year pay deal by Brawn.

From being down and out when Honda, the Japanese carmaker, quit Formula One a year ago, the team has been revived under Ross Brawn, who delivered the constructors' world championship last season. With sponsors beating a path to the team’s door for next season, the value of the operation could be as much as £100m.

Ross Brawn is expected to remain in his role, however, the future of his drivers is more uncertain. German Nico Rosberg is expected to become the team's principal driver, with his compatriot Nick Heidfeld likely to partner him.

Neither driver has been confirmed although yesterday Norbert Haug, the head of Mercedes Sport, said he was attempting to secure Heidfeld, who has driven for BMW since 2006. "We are speaking with Nick Heidfeld as well," Haug said. "Mercedes-Benz supports the idea of signing an experienced and capable German driver. There is however no reason to finalise the driver situation too hastily."
I hope, I do not wait.

Surprising! But Button at McLaren? Come on, I want Raikkonen either in a McLaren or in the new Mercedes-Brawn team.

I guess Raikkonen, Button, Rosberg and Heidfeld will be the 4 drivers competing for the 3 remaining seats at the 2 Mercedes-powered teams.

I'm not a huge fan of raikkonen he's been out raced by Massa for a while now, or does he just get extra recognition round here because Axl thanked him  :?:

Bullshit. Who clinched the world championship for Ferrari after Schumi retired? Raikkonen did, in his first year for Ferrari while the McLaren's from Alonso and Hamilton were even faster.

In 2008 Raikkonen had difficulties with the car and dropped behind mid-season, so Massa had the opportunity to go for the title. He still blew it though, because of multiple screwed up races. Felipe Massa can only win races when he starts from pole and doesn't face any difficulties. When he starts midfield or falls back in the beginning he barely recovers. Alonso's probably gonna kick his ass next year if Ferrari won't favour Massa, like they did when Kimi was still there.

Bullshit? in the last 2 seasons Raikkonen has NOT even been the fastest man in Ferrari-FACT

I can't pretend to be a fan, but my Dad is big on it, and I like to see how Hamilton is doing. It's nice to have someone British actually have a chance of winning something! Yeah, you heard me Jenson Button

Just thought I'd drag this little beauty up :ninja:

Bullshit? in the last 2 seasons Raikkonen has NOT even been the fastest man in Ferrari-FACT

Didn't you see this season? He was the fastest man in a Ferrari this season and scored almost the most points of all drivers in the second half of the season. If Ferrari hadn't stopped developping the car at 2/3 of the season than he would easily have finished 5th behind the Brawn and Red Bull drivers with their superior cars. Now Hamilton got past him in the last couple of races.

Before Massa's accident both drivers were struggling equally with this year's Ferrari.

Kimi would kick Buttons as if he got the Mclaren seat.

Doesnt hide the fact that Massa beat Kimi the year after he won the championship & was stronger then Kimi this season up till his accident.

Kimi did well in the season half of this season but I think he heads a new challenge. Ive been saying for months that he has lost his fire since becoming world champion, a new team might get the old Kimi back and make for a great season next year. I would love to see Vettel, Alonso, Hamilton & Kimi fight it out in different cars with Massa, Button, Webber & Rosberg getting in on the action.

The 2010 season could be great with potentially 8 drivers in 4 competitive teams! But Kimi needs a damn seat damn it. Either at McLaren or Mercedes. I guess Mercedes can't pay his wage, since they're already bitching about the couple of millions Button wants.

So now it is told that Raikkonen will take a sabbatical, since his talks with McLaren were not successful.  >(
