i was just reading the relics thread on singing tips and i was hoping to ask does anyone have any tips on maybe increasing the range of ones vocals? now im not expecting miracles here, ive already rid myself of any hopes of singing like pavarotti any time soon :lol: bt i really wish that i could reach just 2 note higher. then id be completly satisfied. so anyone got any ideas that wont strain my voice? all help appreciated.

Can't say I do...

the best advice is just to practice. Try to find songs where the vocals only go one note higher than you want to sing and try singing along to it.

i take singin' lessons use a keyboard or guitar and go up the notes (go up the lower notes first so as not to strain you voice) find the note you can't reach and go for it. do at least ten mninute a day and you should find your vocla range increasing. also most classical singin teachers will tell you to sing from the gut or chest ignore this, use your head voice it's just as good. axl rose and freddy mercury both sing in head voice

But first to do that, You need to connect your chest voice with your head voice. So theres no gap when you're trying to sing smoothly.

Try and do lip rolls on a scale starting with your lowest note going as high as you can get - this should smooth things out through your chest to your head voice and loosen things up so you can hit those high notes! If you can't do lip rolls just put your middle fingers either side of your mouth about an inch away from the edges and squash your cheeks - then make a brrrrrrrrrrr sound as though you were freezing your nuts off in the cold!!! Don't try and push too hard, just allow the sound to come out naturally.
