Well, I never would have guessed, but it looks like a "new" album is coming (although made from recordings done in 1994)...

I'm "kinda" looking forward to this.  I welcome new Pink Floyd material, but I'm a bit worried that it won't be very good, given that Roger Waters isn't involved and Rick Wright is only involved through the magic of technology.

After months of rumors, Pink Floyd have finally announced the details of their new album The Endless River, which hits shelves on November 10th. It's the group’s first new release since 1994’s The Division Bell. According to a press release, The Endless River is a “four-sided instrumental album,” though one track, “Louder Than Words,” has lyrics by David Gilmour’s wife Polly Samson.

My fears were confirmed.  I love Pink Floyd, but meh.  Even by Gilmour-Floyd standards it wasn't that good.  There was too much "Oh, that sounds like a re-write of Shine On You Crazy Diamond," "Oh, that sounds like a re-write of Run Like Hell," etc. etc.

It's very true that there are many "variations" of old sounds - but there is a reason for this. If you had read a bit about the album, you'd know that these recordings come from "jam sessions" the band played in 1993: after a long break, the three remaining members (Gilmour, Wright & Mason) jammed together to "get back into it", hence the "typical" Floyd sounds in there... This "album" is made out of the 20 or so hours of recordings they had left from back then.
Thus, it's not exactly a full new album, it's more like a reminiscence to Rick Wright. And for that, it is indeed pretty good.
