Hope his voice is a little more stable tonight. He sounded sick or something the first two shows. 2002 esque i regret to say
so you were in the first 2 shows. So it sounded really bad?

I wasn't there. But ive seen the videos. They are terrible quality but i have about every garbage sounding bootleg from last year. It just doesn't sound right. He has more control than 02 but the helium factor is back. And there is no rasp whatsoever except in select instances and even then his voice sounds a little weak.  Im hoping he gets it back similar to how it came back after rio last year

False, Axl sounded great, not as great as 14 years ago, but MUCH better than 2002... thats for sure.

I still think.. And its just my opinion.. That he sounded better at the hammerstein shows last year. Yes he always sounds better in person. But you can tell some. However he probably just has a cold or something. Or maybe his monitor mixes have been horrible

He sounded fine on the november rain and SCOM videos on youtube, but yeah on certain videos his voice isn't great, however on every tour it has taken him a few shows to warm up.

I can agree on that account. I kinda of thought that his voice would have been at the point that it left off at being that it hadn't been all that long between tours.  Does anyone else find it weird his voice gets better and not worse as the tour progresses?it seems the opposite would happen with the way he sings

Ever notice how most tours start with a back-to-back date, followed by an every other night deal...sometimes there are other 'back-to-back' dates, but the idea is to get your voice nice and calloused over so you can sustain the pressures of singing/screaming for 2 + hours every or every other night.

The voice gets stronger and stronger, but when you stop using it, it goes to hell....as Stephen Tyler said, 'Use it or lose it...'

Axl Rose is probably just warmin' up....you will notice that when his voice starts naturally getting more grittier and it's not just the 'technique' (because that style of singing is just a technique)...his range won't be as 'high' and then everyone will bitch about that.  If his voice is 'high' and helium esque, it's because he is taking care of it; it's actually stronger not 'weaker.'

Give him a few shows and it'll be just the way you like it, but the range may suffer as the vocal folds swell.

The thing i liked the best about the last tour was the range combined with the grit. Id like to hear that voice again.  On a different note when is this show starting?

I train with Steve Whiteman of the 80's rock band KIX; I know just about all the techniques and the reasons for why the voice does what it does...

then maybe u could explain something to me (and whoever else is wondering)

why has Axl seemingly abandoned the raspy-gritty voice he used ('80's-'93), and has became noticably octaves higher???

is it b/c singing that way damages your voice?  ive often wondered that old-school Axl was in danger of losing his vocal ability if he kept doing it.  most people in choir that i talked to said it kills your voice & could give you "palps" or something like that, which u would need surgery to get removed- leaving u possibly to never sing again?

any truth?

thanks
