so in my opinion he's just a poor fella who never stomached that the big times are over.
sorry to say so but a drummer is the best replacable member of a band. Okay, there are
guys like Lars, but he's got personality. So did John Bonham  :shy: uhm... but the point is
that you better burn out than fade away  :?:

He seems like an excellent person, but what do I know...

Adler's Appetite album kicks the shit out of some songs former gnr members made, n' I think Steven is right, the original lineup was the best you could get.
He is still so fuckin' cool, he still looks so rock n' roll (aside from the drugs thing) I think only Slash n' him still look like they could punch you in the fuckin' face for no reason.

Steven Adler
Wouldn't it be nice to plunder with your eyes?
Whatever there's for you to see.. Is yours to be?
Let me be there, just tell me you don't care
Just say you'll pay the afterlife... However high the price...

He's a good guy but he seems pretty naive. That "oh Axl and I were talking till 6" and all.

Adler is to Axl like Ackley to Caulfield (if you know what I mean)  :)

Duff said in Bass Guitar/ Bass player-magazine that the two of them (Duff & Adler)
got together in the rehearsals place and played & rehearsed Prince and old-school
motown stuff like The Meters... They rehearsed for about 6 hours per rhytm-section
rehearsal... You can hear it by listening AFD where Adler plays slightly off-beat,
   like the old funk drummers!

Build it and they will come...

Like Led Zep did, but stuff like that won't fit  sleaze rock / contemporary rock.

PS: I like funk

Catcher in the Rye, nice.
Buy the new a7x album.  I did.  It's worth the change.

Ok, a couple things.  First, the Meters were great, and were the predecessors to a lot of the stuff that's out today.  Best thing that ever came out of a Neville.

Second, if Adler was playing off beat it was because he has no rhythm.  That's why it became necessary for Matt Sorum to join the band (aside from the heroin addiction) because I assure you with Adler playing we would have never heard "gimme some reggae!"

Cool. But still AFD had really good groove, considering that they didn´t use pro tools-stuff on the rythm-section back then... Bring me some more reggae!

REALITY - and this goes along with what Karin said, even if the old GNR had a reunion gig (for the money), it would be Izzy, Axl, Slash, Duff, Matt, & Dizzy.  Gilby wouldn't be involved - nor would Adler.  Adler is considered [by the rock community] as junkie/joke; that isn't my opinion [I don't know the guy, personally], but the opinion that the world holds -- in Jersey he is considered the weatherman.  Adler was cool until he failed to realize that he was no longer relevant; he is a 'beggar' and a 'hanger on' - as touted by Slash.

In his mind, if tries to pretend like he's still 20, it will allow him to believe that there is still 'hope' that he will one day share the stage with his old buddies -- it's the only reason he isn't in a massive depression or a mental institute; the rest of the world knows that he just doesn't have the respect of the world or any of his previous band members!

Axl may be his friend, but he certainly knows 'better.'  It's like an ex-girlfriend - you can be friends and not want to continue sleeping together.

If AFD had any groove, it was in spite of him, not because of him.  That was the main reason he got the axe, because he had NO GROOVE, which should be a prerequisite for a drummer.  The drug thing was being used as a scapegoat, but they could have just as easily fired him because he sucked.  When I was a kid I thought Adler was the shit, then I played guitar in 10 different bands, produced numerous others, learned to play drums myself and realized how truly awful he is.

I will only give him credit for one thing....he definitely brought MORE COWBELL to rock.

You can play with all the emotion and heart in the universe but if you're not a proficient player, it'll sound like shit. If you don't have the chops, you just don't have the chops.

Great drummer? He was bloody useless, he once said one of the ways he kept in time was by watching Slash's foot.
Awesome guy though.
