no, not at all, I'm questioning whether doing things for yourself in this life is any more selfish than doing good things not because they are good, but purely to create a legacy for yourself. In my opinion they're comparable and neither is in any way altruistic.
I agree, that was (edit)*at least partially, obviously not entirely* my point. I don't believe people are capable of being truly altruistic either, but there are different levels of selfishness, I wouldn't say it's entirely selfish to do something that inconveniances you if you don't seek credit for it, certianly it's less selfish than doing it so people will think "wow, he's a great guy"

Whether or not it's strictly out of ego or it's out of the goodness of your heart because gosh darnit, you're just a nice guy. If you've changed somones life in the end, whats the big deal.
I realize that you guys are trying to pick apart that some people such as myself said they would wnat to be remember as doing good. Thats simply what I would do with my fame, try to help people. I've known plenty of misfortunate people like my friend who died of cancer when we were 12. If you could change his life, wouldn't you?
