LMAO LMAO..God I love that man. He sure never has minced words.

But he's GOT to understand its a bit a compliment....us die-hards just want to hear different stuff....we mean no harm...we just want a show with a few different songs...but no matter....he granted our wish..by breaking out Down on the Farm the other night....

At least we know he pays some what attention to what post on here. Let's hope he reads this board more than HTGTH for gods sake..

I have to actually chime in here real quick.  I don't post much, but that is probably that I am too busy.  I am (and have been) an obsessed GN'R fan since I was 10 and got Appetite.  I saw them twice this year at Hammerstein (a bunch of times before with the original band.  well, Illusions era band) And, I saw them tonight at the Continental Arena where they KICKED ASS!  I can see where he is coming from on a few points.  My only reason for this reply is speak quickly on something that has been on my mind all year.  I am "patiently" waiting for Chinese Democracy.  I will probably take a day off work to listen to it over and over.  But as far as people talking about set lists not changing, or Izzy shouldnt have stayed on for all the shows, etc.  Without the internet, none of that info would have been that accessable.  Sure, now its easy to DL tons of shows, and stuff.  But on the Illusions tour, I was paying $50 for a whole show.  I LOVE the info that GNRONTOUR gives us.  I come to NEWGNR everyday, if not multiple times a day.  I just think that DL shows, and actually going to shows is a whole different thing.  If you are solely relying on downloading shows, look back to the past...A LOT of shows had a very similar set lists.  I am not saying they should not change it, but if you live in NY and and you go to 5 shows on the tour, you should expect a similar show.  Why should something that someone in Puerto Rico saw, be that different from someone in New Jersey? (I mean songs played.) A world tour is supposed to cover all areas of the world, and let people experience it for themselves.  OK, I live in PA.  But I am seeing them in NY, MD and I saw them in NJ tonight.  I am not expecting anything totally different.  I want to see my favorite band rock.  Yes, this was a LONG post, and I apologize.  I just hate that anyone can want more than the band is doing (based on downloaded shows.)  Just remember, a GUNS N' ROSES show is completely different, regardless of set list.  They go out and play, give 100% no matter what.  I can't wait until Friday night.  You can flame me if you want, but I just see things from the eyes of a true fan, who doesn't care about set lists and stuff like that.  If I show up to an arena and the band shows up and plays an amazing set, thats why i am there.

I've just listened to the (in)famous rant for the first time on You Tube.  I have to point out that Axl DID NOT say "some guy form Ireland", what he actually said was: "Some guy from IOWA"!!!!!

I'm pretty sure, he said Ireland.

You should make your tag line something to the effect of "Kov's realism, shattering idealism everywhere."

As much as I agree with some of your points, the fact of the matter is that the setlist hadn't changed much (save 2 songs) up until the Greensboro show since 2000/2001. And with almost no promotion for these tours, you would expect a good portion ofthe people attending the shows to be hardcore fans who follow what's going on with the band on the boards. Therefore, it is normal that alot of us go to 5+ shows on a single tour. Mixing up the setlist a bit would not only cheer us but also the other mucisians in the band. I don't think (at least the other 7 guys) they live for playing AFD songs every night. After all, alot of them have spent years writing and recording songs for CD.
The other complaint, I guess was to include more new songs. If I am not mistaken this is called the Chinese Democracy tour (again!), and not AFD and Lies tribute tour. Therefore, having 70% of the songs played coming from 87-88 albums is probably not the wisest thing to do. Especially with a new album coming up. Maybe it's just me, but I beleive CD will own those 80s albums and we can only gain by hearing more new songs. And so will the band.
