Guns N' Roses - There Was a Time(6:43 version)

Tabbed by Jimmeh

Part 1(no rhythm guitar):

e----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G--------7/9----9~~---7----------------------14-11-14b-(14b)-----------------|
D-----12-----12---------12-11b12r11--------14--------------------------------|

e-------------------------------------------(Not sure whether the notes------|

G-------11-11-9--------------------------------------------------------------|
D---------------12-9---------------------------------------------------------|
A--------------------(12)(9)-------------------------------------------------|
E----------------------------(12)-(10)-(7)-----------------------------------|

Now the "It was a long time for you.." part(different guitarist I think, I presume the above is Finck, so this would be Richard?  Finck might play the lead notes in this though...):

e---------------------------------|  |---------------------------------------|
B---------------------------------|  |---------------------------------------|
G------------13-13-13--14-13------|  |------------13-13-14-14-14-13----------|
D-------12---13-13-13--14-13------|x3|--------12--13-13-14-14-14-13----------|
A-12/14------11-11-11--12-11------|  |--12/14-----11-11-12-12-12-11----------|
E---------------------------------|  |---------------------------------------|

*On a side note, they play the above part live like this:
*e---------------------------------|  |---------------------------------------|
*B---------------------------------|  |---------------------------------------|
*G---------------------------------|  |---------------------------------------|
*D--14-14-x-x-15-15-15-14----------|x3|--14-14-15-15-15-14--------------------|
*A--14-14-x-x-15-15-15-14----------|  |--14-14-15-15-15-14--------------------|
*E--12-12-x-x-13-13-13-12----------|  |--12-12-13-13-13-12--------------------|

Part 2(The chords for this part are Bm, A, E, Bm.):

                 |pm-----|
e------------------------------2---------------------------------------------|
B--2b3~~~~~~~~~~------0----2-0---0-------------------------------------------|
G-----------------1-4---1----------------------------------------------------|
D----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

e----------------------------------------------0-----------------------------|
B--2b3r2b3r2b3-0--2b3r2b3r2b3-5~-2b3r2b3r2b3-0---5p4-2-0-0-------------------|
G----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

e--5------------7-7~~---------------------------(Not sure about this part,---|
B--5b7-/5-3-5-3-7-7~~----------------------------can't hear it properly)-----|
G--------------------13------------------------------------------------------|
D-----------------------16-16-14-13------------------------------------------|
A----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

e------------------------0---------------5-----------------------------------|
B--2b3r2b3r2-0-2b3r2b3r2----2b3r2b3r2-0--5-----------------------------------|
G----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Next the "It was a long time for you.." part again and then the "If I could go back in time..." part, which is mainly chords:

D             A                   E
If I could go back in time to the place

in my soul, there all alone,
G
lonely tear drops,
F#               Bm
ooh, are calling you.
    A                     G
but I don't wanna know it now,
               F#                         E
'cause knowing you it won't change a damn thing.
                Bm
but there was a time.....

Finck plays a few notes here and there, I'm only gonna tab the riff he kinda bases most of it on, it's the same thing the

piano plays at the start and throughout he song.

e----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D-12---------12--------------------------------------------------------------|
A----11-12-9----11-11-12-----------------------------------------------------|
E----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Then there's Finck's solo(Chords are Bm, A, E, Bm.):

e---------1h2---------1h2-1/2~--0--------------------------------------------|
B--2~~b3-------2~~b3----------------0-2b3r2b3r2------------------------------|
G-----------------------------------------------4~---------------------------|
D----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

e---------1h2---------1h2-1/2~--0--------------------------------------------|
B--2~~b3-------2~~b3----------------0-6b7~~----------------------------------|
G----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

e--7p5~~--7------5-9(bd)-5-------5-7-10p9p7~~---5h7--5-----------------------|
B-----------7~~------------5~~-7---------------------5b7-5b7-5b7-*5b7~<7>~~--|
G----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

*While doing the last bend Finck plays an artificial harmonic to get that really high note you hear.  While bending the string, lightly touch the string on the 15th fret.

Next is the "There was a time, didn't want to know it all.." part, Chords are Bm, A, E, E(and it stays that way until the end of the song).  Any lead guitar for the next 20 seconds is not very audible and is negligable.

Finck's second solo:

Play this twice:
e----------------------------|-----------------------------------------------|
B----------------------------|-----------------------------------------------|
G----------------------------|------------------------14b16------------------|
D--12b14r12-------12b14r12---|12-14b16r14-12b14r12----------14-12----12-14/16|
A-----------14-14----------12|---------------------14-------------14---------|
E----------------------------|-----------------------------------------------|

e----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D---12-14/16-----------------------------------------------------------------|
A-----------14---------------------------------------------------------------|
E----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Next play this instead of the part behind the line above, play twice again:
e----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D--14b16-14b16-r14-12-14-14b16-12b14r12--------------------------------------|
A---------------------------------------14-14--------------------------------|
E----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Buckethead's Solo(AFAIK it's Buckethead anyway, starting at about 4:20)

e----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
G--------------------Coming Soon!--------------------------------------------|
D----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

I'll do my best to tab the Buckethead solo ASAP.  Tell me what you think of  it so far aand pleaase report mistakes etc.

Nice attempt, but there is loads of tabs going around man, and one has been posted here.

But keep tabbing, helps your playing style too.

I've never seen a TWAT solo outside Bolt's one on this site... Just quickly compared em there, we agree on most of the notes but my version uses different strings/frets.  Also I think he's left out some bits and I personally find it a bit hard to follow.  And I had a free afternoon so why not?  More efforts to tab it the better.
