POLL - BucketHEAD VS Finck's guitar solos
« on: September 23, 2003, 05:34:37 PM »
Alright, after listening to a tons of shows from the last tour I really like Finck's guitar solo's a lot, tonally they are perfect... But he play almost the same thing every time (like in Chinese democracy, or The BLUES)...

Buckethead on the other hand seems to improvise a lot more in concert, rarely playing the same solo twice.

So which do you like more?

Personally I go for BUCKET... I love it when musicians play different parts in concert.

Bucket solos are neat. Finck has cutoffs, all the time, he has little "interruptions" while he plays.

So, by far I go with BH.

Fink's solos are fucking terrible.... the wanking he does before Paradise City, the screw-ups on Sweet Child, and who knows what the fuck he's trying to do on November Rain.

I'd be happy with just one freak and Fortus.  I voted Bucket.

i agree with u and Axlrose_7 (hi manuel).  i think Finck is crap.  Bucket has impressed me with his playing on a musical level (ignoring technical skill for a sec) more than Finck.  Finck does have severe issues playing live.  He is THE most nervous player.  As a guitar player, you can hear the stops etc and delayed notes are not musical, they are because he isn't sure where to go next on the fretboard.

Well I voted Finck. There's a lot more into a guitar player than just move your fingers fast. Finck has a lot more presence than Bucket. And I really like his style.
By the way, Fincks solo on November Rain takes that song to a higher level. Man and I used to hate that song!  :guitar:

I think we should stop these Bucket vs. Finck. vs. Fortus pollgame.
They are all three awesome guitarplayers with their own unique style and great skills!!
I've heard those soundboard mp3's lots of times now and what this guitartrio can do together is the best guitarwork I've ever heard.
It is just mindblowing! So beautiful!. Listen these mp3's for example:

Nightrain - RIR3
You Could Be Mine - Cleveland
Chinese Democracy - Boston
Rocket Queen - Boston

I can enjoy that so much!

I'd go with Finck. Buckethead's technically brilliant, but his playing doesn't really do anything for me. Finck's stuff varies between sloppy, and brill (the SCOM solo at RIR3), but there's more feeling in his playing. That's my take on it, anyway.

well im gonna go with bucket, although i think finck does a fine job usually... the blues sounds great and i love his scom solo... but buckethead can do whatever perfectly, he plays nightrain like a beast and his rhiad solo is awesome too... and although it should be longer, his KOHD solo is so nice.

i think finck deserves more credit than the guy gets... the only song he really disappoints me on is november rain... but i kinda cant blame him for that... those are huge ass shoes to fill with that song, i like fortus's work better with NR.

while at the same time, it can be really hard to compare bucket and finck, theyre pretty different. i mean finck did stuff with NIN and bucket worked with God Knows how many people and did something new and different with each one.  so i guess im more open to what bucket does.
