Because of songs like (especially live versions) estranged, YCBM, DTJ, COMA, November Rain, and especially his DRUM SOUND...which is amazing...and his ability to make you want to play drums....I PICK MATT.
This guy who used to drum for my band went thru drummer phases..he learned all of Lars stuff, Bonham's stuff, Geezer's, Alex's, Matt's, Adler's, Ginger Baker, joey Kramer, and carter Beaufort.... out of all of them...and he's heard many drummers... his favorite is Matt Sorum.  There's something about Matt's playing, it's so BIG... and the technique is amazing and he also is one of those drummers that understands groove.  I also liked his work with the Cult.  Matt was def. the best drummer. He's amazing..i wish i had a drumset now...my fav. Matt intros are: Locomotive (that drum sound!!) and Hair of the Dog. 14 years-the drum sound is amazing as well.

really? i'd actually say brain is far more capable of more things than matt... matt's (to me) doesnt have alot of variation.
