wow you never been to a festival?? Festivals are the BEST, dude. That's the best part of the summer for me. People (age 16-30maybe), a whole LOT of people enjoy life, music, alcohol and everything that results from these

Everybody, with no exception, is have a fuckin great time. And image that with the most GnR fans, you've ever seen in your life, at one place together dude!!! You can't take a hotel, you would destroy the whole festival-feeling, because that is what it's all about. I mean of course you CAN, but...
to your questions:
security:
you can read the official website, there are some rules for camping/parking area (which is one area, you can park your car and put your tent everywhere). I have been on lots of festivals and we've never had a problem, never! We let our money and everything in the tent, nobody every stolen anything. You quickly make friends around your tent on the area, you know, its all very comfortable.
I can even tell you, a friend of mine once lost his mobile while crowd-diving and the next morning he really got it BACK at the information! I mean that was luck and I have also heard that people have stolen something, but nobody goes into your tent and steals all the money. When people are too drunk, maybe they take something what's lying in front of your tent, but I have even never experience sth like that.
did you mean that with security? ok
bring banners?
I honestly dont know. I hope so. I'll make one

I don't think it'll be a problem to sneak a banner in, just in case.
restaurants?
well. that's a special topic. there are restaurants! they are VERY expensive! So we never go there. We basically take our food with us: about 20-30 toasts /bread for each person and toast-cheese(that one where every single cheese is packed in extra

) and some more stuff, you can kill your hunger with.
I read that there also will be a grill or sth, where you can "cook", but well, I can imagine how it will look after the first festival-day
and of course the most important food on a festival: beer. We buy one or two "pallete(?)" of beer, that's 24 beers, every day, or more depending on how many people we are. never been to the nova-area, I hope there will be a gas-station / supermarket for the beer.
weather?
can be the best weather, no clouds, 30+ degrees, but can also be rainy and fuckin cold. That's the LEAST important thing on a festival. i guess rain even produces a better party-mood

but it gets really really dirty

Dirt in the tent, wet everything, everywhere. you can't try to keep clean, when it rains on a festival. nobody tries to, so it's great.
i hope and i think it will be sunny.
stages?
2
watch this:
http://www.rockfestivals.at/index.php?action=festival&id=100193they have a preview of the lineup. they keep it up to date. will be on the official site too, when everything is finished.
sneak backstage?
impossible. when you don't know somebody working there it's impossible.
But we'll definitely check out, where the bands arrive with their tour-buses and wait there for gnr. they still will have to come to the festival somehow

how the chances for a foto / signing are, depends on the band. We'll definitely go there, where we can possibly see the band, right after the show too! but sneak backstage? impossible. but I suggest you to try it!
sth to smoke?
hm, well i think you'll have to bring it with you. dunno, usually we don't smoke pot, maybe we'll get sth for that festival, i dont care too much.
ok
ah another important thing:
most likely there will be a seperated area in front of the stage! So that people in the front row can at least move a bit you know

And not many people are gonna let in in the front there. I dont know how it will work there, but thats anothere thing we have to find out quickly there!!! At another festival it was like this: Opening was 11am and the first few hundred people that were there, got a special wristband only for that single day, which wich you could get in in the front-area too! Security-people did only let you in with that wristband! (and when you reached to even get to the entry of this area, cause of the many people

) ok i think you know what I mean.
sooo,
as you can see, I love festivals. I wouldn't love them, if there would be anything to worry about

Bring friends with you and you'll have the best time there! It will be sold-out. It will be fucking amazing.
feel free to ask anything...
