GUNS N' ROSES / Re: New reunion rumour
« Last post by TARS on November 11, 2017, 09:36:57 PM »
General question. Want to get people's thoughts. 1 do we think they will add a few mores shows to the European leg for next year in a few weeks time?. Or that's it set in stone?.

2ndly. Now I don't mind. Myself. But after the announcement yesterday. I sore a good few comments complaining on how long this tour will have gone on for come next summer. Saying they are just after people's money at this point. Etc.

Just wondering people's thoughts.

1. Would be most surprised if they didn't add more shows, and there seems to be enough days between those dates which are already announced in order to add more shows in neighbouring countries.

2. Honestly don't care. Take my money and give me a Gn'R show... 85 euros for Nijmegen, Netherlands is, I think, reasonable/to be expected.

OTHER BANDS / Billy Gibbons interview

A new interview with Billy Gibbons, who has just performed with GNR:

A few quotes:
Quote
What's the best advice you ever received?
B.B. King laid quite a simplistic statement on me: Learn to play what you want to hear. When you're trying to learn an instrument, chances are you find yourself at the feet of a teacher who may have an idea of what you should learn. But if you learn to play what you want to hear in your head, you are steps ahead.

What's your favorite city in the world?
Las Vegas. One of my favorite houses is located there. I'm on musicians' hours, and Vegas rolls 24/7. Also, everything is square, nothing is round in Las Vegas. When you live this kind of uncertain life from being on the road, you don't like sitting in chairs with a round arm. You like sitting in a nice square chair because it has identifiable corners.

Gene Simmons says rock is dead. Do you think it is?
Maybe in his head. In my head it's still quite a robust way to express yourself. You can really let go of the stress, which is really healthy.

I think it's possible that more shows could be added.

This is what I like to hear haha. You know why. Haha.

Money certainly is an issue and one reason for this "reunion". But: if they "only" wanted the cash, they could go out, play for 1 or 2 hours and then leave - reality is: they bring on a 3+ hour show! Which imho requires some stamina and "love" for the music.

Plus: the way it looks now, they will have a break after the current US tour. Thus they will hopefully be "fresh" when they re-start the tour next year!  :)

Like I said I don't have a problem with it myself. That's true. Even when I sore. (I'll say it kind of now). Axl and friends. 3 times. They still did 3 hour show's or there abouts each time. It is expensive a ticket for this tour. I don't think anyone is saying it's cheap. But I still think you get your money's worth.

See now that's another reason why I don't want to go to download Festival. It's the 2nd show I believe off the top of my head. And as much as I like AXL. His voice always takes several shows to get good. But will see what happens.

Nice, hope his tour will go well.

I hope so too.
Btw, did you all get his "Bash & Pop" album? It's fab! (Certainly in my top 5 albums of this year.)

Sorry, this is just not convincing. Let's agree to disagree. For me, STP = Scott

Yeah well, like I said in my opinion this is a misconception, fueled by the media too. We have three quarters of the band here and they have every right to keep this name.

(If you disagree, you might as well argue that Steven & Izzy were not the face, but the backbone of GNR and without them...)

OTHER BANDS / Re: Stone Temple Pilots fire Scott Weiland in one-sentence statement
« Last post by TARS on November 10, 2017, 08:17:50 PM »
Sorry, this is just not convincing. Let's agree to disagree. For me, STP = Scott, effing brilliant voice, and with the attitude and all. At the very least, he was the visible face of the band.

Re their statement, that is why I was a bit more nuanced in my previous message. I cannot ask some effing good musicians in their 50s to retire because they lost their frontman. It is just not fair to them, and I know that they have worked hard to get there and that they are super talented. But it is just the end of STP, no two ways about it. Don't do it like Queen or something...
