GUNS N' ROSES / Re: New reunion rumour

Tickets go on public sale tomorrow. (apart film the Barcelona show for some odd reason). And I still don't know what I'm doing. It's either Berlin show, Barcelona show or wait for them to announce a London show. Or just a normal show in the UK. If it comes to it I will go to download but only a day ticket.

Guns N' Roses delivered an epic showcase of hard-rock abandon and pumped up an animated crowd at Tulsa's BOK Center on Tuesday night with a marathon of music.

After 31 songs and 3 hours, 32 minutes of audio destruction by the band's raging rock show, one had to be impressed by the engineering of the downtown arena for its roof remaining in place.

For those who didn't stay into the fourth hour: You missed an encore as energetic as the first hour of the show.

You missed songs increasingly being sung by the audience with growing volume.

You missed Dave Grohl — whose band Foo Fighters plays the arena Wednesday night — joining for a wow-factor finale performance of the GN'R classic "Paradise City."

Remember, the last time this band played at Bridgestone Arena (in 2011), they started just shy of 11 p.m. That was a Sunday.

Of course, for the last two years, we've been in a triumphant, sentimental and strangely responsible era of Guns N' Roses.

Last year, frontman Axl Rose patched things up with long-estranged bandmates Slash and Duff McKagan, and they then embarked on a massive stadium tour,  which included a stop at Nashville's Nissan Stadium.

Their setlist at Bridgestone was 80% identical to the one used at their last Nashville show. But that didn't seem to matter to people who nearly packed the arena on Monday.

The room stayed full for the next 3 hours and 20 minutes, through a warm and familiar rock marathon that included "Welcome to the Jungle," "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "My Michelle" (the latter of which is quietly among the most beloved GNR tunes, judging by crowd volume.)

Rose — equally known for his signature screech and raspy baritone — was in fine form on Monday, as a singer and showman. Over the last 30 years, he's mastered the art of sprinting backwards and spinning on an axis with a microphone stand.

Slash wasn't outdone, at times bounding from one end of the stage to other, and at one point planting himself at the edge of the catwalk for an epic guitar solo that included the theme from "The Godfather."

The band arrived on time, stayed late and hit every note that made them the biggest, and most dangerous, band on the planet in the late 80s and early 90s. GNR blasted through more than 25 songs that encompassed more than three hours.

In addition to expected hits like “November Rain” and “Welcome to the Jungle,” GNR even pulled out some deep cuts from the (unfairly) much-maligned Chinese Democracy. Sure, this provided restroom and drink breaks for many in attendance, but for those (like myself) who cop that Chinese Democracy isn’t nearly the trainwreck it’s labeled, Friday night marked a fine chance to catch tracks like “Sorry” and “Madagascar.”

The encore was something to behold, particularly GNR bringing out Houston and ZZ Top’s own Billy Gibbons to help along the band’s performance of “Patience.”
