07-29-06 | London 2006 Aftershow Acoustic Set
by Adjamian

hello gunners

its all over and im back in LA again.

first off, i need to thank some people who made this tour-de-guns possible.
my team back in LA for starters who work in LA and UK time (which was 24/7) to see to the business and to "D", my executive assistant who made sure I got from city to city, train to train, hotel to hotel safely, timely and in style! I also want to thank all the nice GNR fans I met in each city - great hospitality and great drinking no doubt, you are all troopers.

now let's talk the highlight of the trip!
saturday night, july 29th

by now you all know about the acoustic show that took place after the show.
I had made friends with some key people in the GNR crew and they gave me a VIP pass to the Wembley that night and also told me where the secret location was for the acoustic show afterwards.
the vip pass, which led nowhere, since the band took off after the show to the Le cuckoo Club (on Regent and Swallow for those of you in the UK) - anyway the VIP pass was the jump start I needed to get things moving.

I walked to the docking bay and found Sebastian Bach and his crew frustrated and fighting with some bloke who refused to drive their van to the show cuz there were 8 people and he could only take 6 legally. what a wanker! the fuckin van was tinted and it was 4AM - it would have been no problem, but there was chaos, there was confusion... and therefore there was opportunity!

I hailed a cab and the rest of us, including my cousin and I, went together to the club. there were paparratzi, etc all around and no one was getting in, but since we were with sabastian we all walked straight in.

It's now 3:20AM and security inside is taking people out of the club, leaving only those allowed.. i'd say by 4AM when GNR took the stage, there were 200 or less people at this show, crew not included. you can clearly see in the pictures how small and private this was.

I had a chance to talk to Ron and Richard before the show and told em my story of how I've been followin the band and they were genuinely excited and humbled - Richard told everyone from Chris to Robin, pointing at me, "this guys amazing, he followed us from LA how amazing is that!" and he got me a beer.

So Axl shows up, and throughout this tour, I'd say he was in his best mood hands down. Just straight laughs, smiles, giggles and jokes from him all night!

He dedicated the evening to a friend of his who works there, Jaimee.
He sang for an hour and 15 minutes and I stood up front the whole time.
To anyone who knows me through this tour, my knee was royally fucked up from a violent incident in the Glasgow show, but I managed to stand there all night, thanks to the pushing crowd behind that I got to lean on and a nice Greek guy next to me who apparently Axl knew, named Christopher, who kept the crowd cool. At one point, some people were getting too pushy and Bumblefoot left the stage and went into the crowd right next to me and cleared the area.

For Patience, I gave Axl a pair of sunglasses I'd been waiting to give him all tour (finally!!!) and Axl goes "ah you got me some glasses!" and he took his off and put mine on and sang Patience!!! Then he gave them back to me, what a nice guy! I shook his hand numerous times. At once point he said "we are in the backseat of your life" and I said "you bet your ass you are", to which he repeated it to the crowd "this guy said you bet your ass you are!"

Then he sang Jungle - already feeling euphoria from this surreal experience, Axl brought the mike near me and Christopher for the "SO DOWN, SO DOWN, SO DOWN!!" part and the 3 of us sang it together!!!!!!!!!!
Bumblefoot was exploding with energy all show and I really like him, he is a very cool guy, probably feels like the outsider from everything ive seen so far, but Axl seems to really like him a lot like a kid brother.
Robin, who I think is a waterfall of talent flowing from him, was very quiet and private and he is a very discreet person and shys from the crowd if too close. Richard and Tommy are just plain crazy! :) Richard told me he bought a house near where I live (not telling you where!)

KOHD brought down the house with how great his voice was and at the end absolutely everyone sang the chorus with him! He the introduced sCOM and said "here's a song we'll dedicate to watersports - sweet bile of mine" laughing.

Nightrain re-energized the crowd again, nearing 6AM, for many of us it had now been a full day awake and partying.. and to top it off he went into IRS next which, if you ask me, was HANDS DOWN the best song that night and the best I've seen him sing it - mainly because I felt the real passion and energy behind it, unlike the "oldies". You could feel his energy when he said "gonna wave it right out in your face!".

He thanked us all for coming and ended with Paradise City.. saying "thank you all for coming and I'm going to go get ripped now and try to make tommorrows show". (which he apparently gave it his best shot and Sebastian covered the end great!) In Paradise City, Sebastian gave Axl a joint (twice) and axl took a puff, smiled and gave it back.

He ended it with UK ENGLAND GOOD FUCKIN NIGHT and "fake" through the mike.

oh ya.. did i mention I recorded the whole show, all 1 hour and 16 minutes of it standing 6 inches from axl? It'll live on with me forever! There were 2 real cute girls next to me, if you are around - email me and say hi :)

And so boys and girls, that's how you end a tour of GNR if you decide to follow their fuckin asses around across the great mutherfuckin UK!
