07-29-06 | Wembley Arena 2006 Review
by Joe

Hey, I'd like to give you my story of going to see Guns n Roses live, best night of my life.

So on the 29th of July, I went to see Guns n Roses live at Wembley, being a huge fan for nearly two years I knew quite a lot about what was happening with the band. I had read up on the internet and it seemed that everyone said that Guns n Roses were not worth seeing, that they had gone down a level and they performed better when it was the original members.

I decided not to see them then, until I got the chance to get myself a ticket, I thought, hey why not.

Now to the concert.

Me and my friend had been waiting for Guns n Roses to come on stage for nearly an hour after the second support band, Bullet for my Valentine, had left the stage. We began to think that they weren't going to turn up, that we'd wasted our time and money, the crowd became restless quickly and screams and cheers soon turned to booing. But suddenly, the arena went dark. The crowd screamed really loud!

After about half a minute the beginning of 'Welcome to the Jungle' could be heard quietly, then building up and up. The crowd, including myself, went wild!

Then the stage lit up and Axl started to sing his heart out. The show lasted for 2/3 hours I should think, and every song was played to perfection, even though I was far far away from the stage and had a seat, I did not sit down once in those 2/3 hours and I did not stop singing along to each and every song, applauding and the end of everyone too.
I was quite literally shocked, I didn't expect them to perform this well and in my opinion the original Guns n Roses didn't have anything on Axl's new Guns n Roses, after buying and watching the 'Use your illusion' DVDs from 1992 in Tokyo where the band failed to meet my expectations I didn't expect anything really good from different members. Also this DVD did not show Axl's voice to be very good anymore.

But, at this concert Axl's voice was better than ever, he hit all the notes perfectly and I couldn't help but sing, scream and jump up and down for the whole concert.

After seeing the new Guns n Roses perform like this, I can't wait for the release of Chinese Democracy later this year, and next time they come to Wembley, I WILL be there again.
Anyone who gets a chance to see Guns n Roses, I recommend they take this chance and see for themselves how Axl has managed to improve the sound and general feeling of the band. I am now as big a fan as ever, even bigger because of this concert and I will never forget it. =D
