06-28-06 | Oslo Norway 2006 Review 4
by Serpentine

well, a bit late for a review but i'm finally back home at my computer that
actually works. some peps have already given a review but anyways, here's mine. me and my girl were heading down there around 8 in the evening, not really that interested to see the skanky bulelt for my valentine....not that i know them much besides the fact i know enough to dislike them....through most of their half hour set people were screaming for guns....(though i got the impression that some little wannabe goth? teens behind me were there exclusively to see BFMV). but anyways, little after 22:30, the licks of WTTJ started, and my god, the crowd went ballistic when axl came on

*DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE FUCK YOU ARE*, later my bro told me they showed some a little clip of jungle on the tv2 news that night. the concert was unfuckingbelievable, like who the fuck is slash is all i can say now. moving on into easy and brownstone the mood was set for a sing along evening ;) LALD was in my mind better than in the old days, fireworks kicked ass, my gf  almost jumped through the roof as she didn't expect fireworks haha. moving on to the solo by finck, good job as always and SCOM was pretty damn  good too. and then enter the first new song Better, i liked the studio leak alot, but it is so much better live the guitar works are amazing. then dizzy came up for a solo, and i didn't really recognize it...i was  thinking it might be ziggy....but hell, i couldn't recognise the damn tune. and The Blues is a ballad i would say that will stand the test of time once it is finally been released on album. frank did a little solo before getting into YCBM, it was pretty good, not like the old sorum crap, sorry but sorums solos bore me numb. oh well, moving on, fortus came out for his solo, it was kickass time....don't make me explain, i just love the guitar three piece of finck, fortus and bumble. fortus solo started as....hmmm..what to say a bit of finger pluckin on the guitar and got more and more raunchy, til finck entered the scene and they went through beautiful...i'll bet that song has never sounded as good as it does now.

next up, out ta get me, sorry peeps don't really like that song. but it was ok performance.
then it was time for a highlight, november rain. goddamn it was good, my favourite part is the end section and it kicked ass as always, to me it sounds even better with bumble than it ever did with slash and bucket playing it, the man is a pure genious. moving on to rocket queen, the funk tune of the night,  i was in heaven, axl's vocals truly are better than ever, who cares if the alleged ruours that he has to suck on oxygen during the guitar solos are true, he sounds as good as he ever will. next up was the solo/singalong don't cry with mr bumblefoot, i think just about everyone present there were singing with as he played and he truly looked like he was getting high as the crowd went along, what a guy =) next new song for the evening was IRS, personally i thought it was a bit weak on the leaked demos....but live it's a killer, the vocals are much more better.

and now it's one of the golden oldies, patience. axl moved to the left of the stage(my right), and sat down on the railing of the stage a bit for the i'll wait here bit, before running around again as usual. but my god he is fit, he didn't sing out of tune at all when running around or even gasp for air as he did back in the 01/02 tour and the gy is over 40 oO i wanna be that fit as i get older. and now comes my personal favourite, Nightrain, with 3 guitarists this is a song of total headbanging mayhem, and to me it was just as amazing as it was on RIR4, anyone who still bitches about slash after hearing this song....hellooo aren't you listening? this song really proves nowadays live that axl has done it, he has made a superb band, and all i can say is: Hail King Axl. next out we got Chinese Democracy followed by My Michelle excellent performances, and once again, the old songs turn out better live these days ;) and so they played another new one, Madagascar the song is really really good live in my opinion, i don't see any reason why gnr should rely so much on the old stuff, sure, they have yet to release the new album, but once it is out, hopefully they will rely more confidently on mostly the new stuff. now last but not least, the almighty Paradise City, Fincks opening solo is good as usual, this guy plays with so much love for the music you can almost feel the overwhelming emotions yourself as he plays, the crowd gets over sprayed with confetti(still have 3 pieces 1 of each color, gonna frame it with the ticket:P )and the show ends as every show does, baby, creeps, oslo norway, good...fucking...night. and the band come in to get praises and standing ovations from everyone that was left. sadly as they started about 2 hours late lots of people had left the venue, only good thing was that i got closer to the stage and got better pics of the band.( no, not with a cam, just my mobile phone). got some good pics throughout the show, even got the ending of NR on my phone, shady sound but still a good memory to keep.

so to sum up, axl and the band put up one helluva show. axl in particular was in extremely good mood, he mentioned the sweden incident: * in sweden they loved me so much they wanted me to stay there, but you know i had to go see my friends in norway*. talking bout rent a cops go bad ;) and about being a AWA, asshole with attitude. he brought up the downloading motherfuckers again, asking bout * any bad boys in the crowd?* *the good thing about being a bad boy is you know where all the bad girls are* haha really wish i had enough money to see them on july 8th too...cause izzy was there...but sadly didn't have any money, still waited outside in hopes of spotting some of them to get some autographs, but all i got was a greeting hand from fortus as they left the venue in a car :( oh well, if you're still bitching about i don't wanan see them cause slash n duff is out, it's really your loss....the newgnr, is better than ever, and ready for world domination.

Long Live Rock N Roll
