I just got back from the GNR show in Greensboro , North Carolina and it failed disappoint! Now I had a friend that bailed out on me for the show and I have a severe cold, but that did not stop me from obtaining my destiny of seeing the rock and roll God known as Axl Rose live in concert. I am scratching my head as to why GNR chose to play at this location , since it is a small market. ( Charlotte would have been more ideal)
There was only about 3,500 people there and nowhere near a sellout. I had to get rid of one of my floor tickets and the scalper that bought the ticket from me said that the only events that will sell out in this building is the NCAA tournament and American Idol tryouts…yikes ! Anyway on to the show. I was about 5 feet from the stage 2 rows back on the floor…so yes my view was awesome and loud. S. Bach and  Papa Roach opened for Guns N’ Roses. Papa Roach really energized the crowd and gave a solid performance. As usual Axl took his time getting to stage and did not begin the performance till about 11:40PM. Then they hit the stage and the place erupted! Due to the fact I was up front what really stood out to me is the charisma that Axl has. He is truly poetry on motion when he is on the stage. You could literally take a picture of him at any given time during the show and its like he’s posing for it. He’s like a fluent serpent up there on stage and is awesome. The audio gave both Bach and Axl problems from time to time. There were also times here and there where the band was so loud it drained Axl out, I think the audio definitely could have been arranged better.
Speaking of draining out ..the crowd. You know when you go to the movies now there is always commercials telling you not talk during the films? I wish we could do that for concerts. Like me most of the fans have been waiting for years to see Axl and was very excited to hear all the classics for the first time live, but when your on the floor and everyone is singing its gets annoying because at times all you hear is the fans singing instead of AXL ! I hated that!
Anyway… Axl sounded great , his screams were absolute killer and he put on a great performance!
The play list was the usual with one exception and these are not in order:

The entire Appetite album was performed
November Rain
You could be mine
Better
IRS
Blues
Madagascar
Patience
Your Crazy -That was a surprise !
Encore- Chinese Democracy and Paradise City

I wish they would change the song list up a bit and play some more Illusion tracks like Estranged and Coma….but that’s just me….and that not a complaint ! All the songs were executed great and I am so fortunate to get to hear all the classics with some news songs in person. All the Chinese Democracy songs sounded awesome. Especially since only the hardcore fans new them, which lead to less singing by the crowd. =o)
“ Better “ was unreal, and definitely got the most attraction from the new songs that were played. All the new songs went over really well with the crowd and were applauded. The show ended at around 2AM.
My favorites tracks  of the night which is really hard to pick.. but ill try.
“Better” and “Paradise City“. Paradise City like I said earlier was one of the encores, and man they jammed that shyt out of that track ! The show was kick-ass and I wish I had more funds and time to follow them up the coast.
