11-17-06 | Ottawa (ON) Review
by Jason

the show started a little after 8pm with Die Mannequin, the crowd was dead
for this performance no one seemed to care, the floor crowd was just
standing around, it looked a bunch of people waiting for the bus, they
played for like 30 mins

next up was the Suicide Girls, basically an extended strip routine but
without full nudity, tape in all the right places, it was great for like the
first 15 minutes, then it got a little repetitive, but whatever I'm not
gonna complain about seing hot naked chicks (well almost naked), they added
a cool element to the show

then we got Canada's own Sebastien Bach, he brought energy and this is when
the crowd really started to come alive. I was never a Skid Row fan but he
was great, talked with the crowd after every song and was funny, however the
funniest part was when he let out a "You rock Toronto", im pretty sure he
knew he was in Ottawa though because he kept talking about his experiences
in Ottawa and Hull when he was a kid...........innocent slip up but the
crowd booed him anyway. He brought out The Trailer Park Boys to perform, the
crowd liked them personally I don't find them funny. Bach played for about 1
hour

then the waiting began and right before midnight the lights go out and the
opening to 'Jungle starts, crowd goes nuts and Axl emerges center stage,
energy level reaches an all time high. Axl seems to be in a good mood you
can tell by his stage presence however he didn't really interact with the
crowd at first, he did later on get us to help him sing happy birthday to
Richard. They performed all the crowd pleasers you would expect (Sweet Child
O mine, You could be mine, November Rain, Live and let die, Patience, Used
to Love her, Heavens Door, My Michelle w/ Mr Bach, etc etc etc) I for one
would of liked to hear more of the new stuff but the crowd unfortunately
didn't seem to recognize the new songs and weren't really into them, for the
encore we got 3 songs instead of the standard 2 which confirms the great
mood Axl was in...........show ended with Paradise City

even though the new guys are great, it's scary to think how much crazier it
would of been if it was the original lineup, Robin is great and everything
but let's be honest that guitar solo in Sweet Child can only be performed
correctly by one man......................

to sum it up, most people that were there agreed that it was the best
concert they're ever been too, definetely worth checking out if you get the
chance.
