10-29-06 | San Juan (Puerto Rico) Review
by Yolanda

Guns N Roses concert kicked ass in the Caribbean! (For the first time in all
of these years!)

Last night concert was great! The Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan,
Puerto Rico rocked all night with Sebastian Bach, Papa Roach and of
course... Guns N Roses!  I bet this has been one of the best audience
they've had in this American Tour.  The public sang loudly to the songs,
waited patiently for Axl and his group to show up and there were no negative
incidents or violence (as I've read in other reviews).  Overall, they
behaved well and had one hell of a good time! (Including me, my husband and
friends!).

The concert started at 8:08 p.m. precisely and ended at 2:00 a.m. so we
rocked for six consecutive hours. What a great experience!  Our ears were
filled with air after that and our throats sore from singing and screaming
:-)

The Opening:

I have to say that Sebastian Bach was a very good choice as an opening for
GNR's Concert. He has a lot of energy and entertains the audience very well.
I liked his style because he really gives his best and that shows up
although his voice may not be  the same after all of these years but he
still kicks a lot of ass! The best song was Youth Gone Wild and the crowd
responded very well to it singing along and you could see all the fists of
the people in the air saying: "We are the youth gone wild"! That was a
powerful performance! Bach's attitude towards the audience was great and
that says a lot about him!

Papa Roach:
WOW! What a great group! They really give themselves to the public. All of
the songs were spectacularly performed. The singer went into the public and
sang without a pause. His voice sounded great! The band plays really well
and the lead singer showed some good moves. I give them 100% applause and
they also showed appreciation for the audience singing a part of a song in
Spanish (our main language) and saying : "Viva la Cucaracha" (Long Live the
Roach!) in various occassions which the public liked a lot! They also
thanked the public for being good to them and that was really appreciated
because I know not all audiences are like the one they had last night!
Overall, great songs performed with lots of energy and dedication!  So, VIVA
LA CUCARACHA!!!!!!!

G N R's Performance! (Finally, at 11:40 p.m.)

When the first note of "Welcome to the Jungle" came out loudly the coliseum
vibrated with all the screams and applause coming from the audience. Yes, we
had waited for more than 15 years to receive this hell of a group and we
were finally hearing them live! (Although not the original group ).The
people standed up and you could feel all of the excitment. This was
something magical.  Axl came rapidly and started singing with lots of
energy!
Following the opening he sang about two to three more songs before he could
say something to greet the public and say that he was happy to be here but
his attitude towards the audience wasn't what I expected. Unlike Bach and
Papa Roach I found Axl's attitude a little bit arrogant. He must change that
if he wants to keep his audience here in Puerto Rico because the band and
himself are there because of the fans. And we were there for him and
behaving sooooooo goooood and rocking our assess off so I at least expected
a: "Hello Puerto Ricooooooo " or any other sign of appreciation for the
public but that didn't happen.

The band: I give the new GNR band a B plus.  Yes, they are great and we
rocked with them all night but to say the truth none of the guitar players
could replace Slash ! At some times in the concert there were some guitar
soloes. That showed up good performance from the players but also it showed
that they are not the best ! Dizzy's piano solo was really good I must say!
Generally, the band kicked ass and gave their best but I bet that if the
band had came here when they were the originals it would have been much much
better.

Axl's voice: Not so good as in the past! Sadly, his voice couldn't be heard
well in a lot of the songs and even the public sang with more energy than
him which, in fact, helped him with the sound. Even Sebastian Bach's voice
could be heard better than his.  But he still kicks ass dancing and he
showed some very good moves so that went very well. November Rain's piano
solo was really good and the best song he sang incredibly was the one with
Sebastian : "My Michelle".  Other great performances of the group were
"Rocket Queen"  and all of the new songs.  The "Don't Cry " guitar solo was
played pretty well and the public sang every bit of it. Live and let die was
also a good one! Patience and Sweet Child O Mine weren't the best ones as I
had expected. Paradise City closed the night with thew public dancing and
singing to it.

Overall: this concert will never be forget ! We rocked, yelled, screamed,
applauded and kicked ass for six hours! The light shows, red confetti and
pyrotecnics were great. Also, good visuals for the songs. Axl did a good job
and his band too so we hope to see them again here but with a little more
appreciation for the Puertorrican fans! After all, "Just a little
Patience....yeahhhhhhhhhh"....
