The GA Experience:
GNR took the stage at exactly 11:22. Crowd surfing ensued, people pushed, shoved, pressed, and nearly crushed each other. I've been to many GA shows, but this was by far the most tumultuous of any crowd. It was only after "The Blues" did the GNR Security in their signature black shirts and headphones finally make an attempt to get people under control by pleading "no more", "no mas", to the multi-lingual fans. Finally, after an emotional delivery of "The Blues" the army of people seemed to quiet down a little.
The Performance:
The performance was in a word -- incredible. The band played a very tight set with no Axl induced stoppages or mistakes from the new line-up. The three guitarists combined to lay down all the leads to near-Slash perfection. Axl made a mention of the "mechanical bull" that is a frequent hotspot at the Hard Rock in Fort Lauderdale. Axl's vocals were powerful and his voice on-key. He delivered, what is sure to be, a very memorable performance for those in attendance.
The encore consisted of a rare performance of "Chinese Democracy" and ended with an energy packed rendition of "Paradise City" as the usual confetti filled closer.
